@dunskie I thought his point was that the patient has all the symptoms of a cluster headache but that they dont seem to happen in a ‘cluster’. He actually described my symptoms very well. 90% of my headaches are migraine, but there is a random 10% that have all of the symptoms of a cluster headache, including the SIGNIFICANT increase in pain. He is also right, my cluster pain can last for hours. I have had it up to 8 hours before on one of the thankfully rare times my Imitrex doesnt help.

@phalgirl ergotamine? well as we all should know LSD is found in the fungus Ergot. and its said that lsd is a good treatment against headaches. idk if theres a connection between ergotamine and LSD but who knows

dimeslimeguy December 9, 2011 at 11:44 pm

@phalgirl ergotamine is a precursor to LSD. and its not caffeine but its often used together. and you said something contradictory, caffeine pills that knock you out?? lawl

Phalgirl December 9, 2011 at 10:52 pm

No dimeslimegy- I said “caffeine that knocks out the cluster headache within minutes.”….please read it again and Yes, ergotomine. The Doctor at the VA hospital prescribes it but only for a limited time, which fortunately was all that he needed. He finished the prescription months ago and has not had another cluster headache since. ツ

ProRanting December 9, 2011 at 10:34 pm

@Mr683465 Skip the pot go straight to LSD. That’s what I’m hearing.

DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDS THIS GUY SAID, besides oxygen and imatrex.

The only med that has EVER worked consistently is buprinorphine, 8mg daily. It is an opaite maintence drug that I found to totally stop my clusters. I would get clusters 4-5+ a day for 3-4 months. I tried killing myself 3 times. Since getting on buprinorphine I havent had a cycle for 2 years.

I understand buprinorphine is very addictive and isnt for clusters…..but it works! Suboxone didnt work for me due to the nalaxone.

@KauniRaine I am a female and I get cluster headaches, so tell your friend she’s not alone AND I hope she fired that “neurologist” Remind her that even doctors that graduate at the bottom of their class, are still called doctors. I hope she found someone that truly understood her medical condition.

Purrrsuasive1 December 9, 2011 at 9:01 pm

@dunskie There is also a type of headache called an ice pick headache. Similiar symptoms to cluster headaches, but not classified as a cluster headache.

Purrrsuasive1 December 9, 2011 at 8:05 pm

@clusterheadachesfree Can you please share with us what was causing your cluster headaches?

dunskie December 9, 2011 at 7:16 pm

@vrosas33 That SUCKS dude. About the doctors. You def need to get to a GOOD Neurologist, who is familiar with the condition. I realize that you commented a year ago. How you doing now? All the best to you.

@Purrrsuasive1, I would love to share with you all, Without Oxygen, without drugs, and without operations. I am a havey smoker, and I drink beer when i want. I been Diagnosied with Chronic Cluster Headaches.
Professor and doctor fail to Find the Exact Cause of Migraine & Cluster headaches, They are just talking about Theroies insted of invastgating my claim. My italian researcher and nuorolgy doctor, accpeted that I can control My Headaches.if you are intersted you can contact him.

matdico December 9, 2011 at 6:56 pm

Pretty good at describing the headaches. However migraine medicine does not work on both. Prednisone is the steroid he is referring to but you cannot take that every day as it is addictive. Other than that Oxygen is the only other thing I know of. When I first started with Cluster headaches I tried immitrex, Maxaalt, Cafergot etc. everything you can think of. THEY DO NOT WORK!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

matdico December 9, 2011 at 6:11 pm

You will end up screwed because you have the Attack and youll have the Jitters from Cafergot or someother side effect on top of it.

i have been getting a headache everyday…anyone have any advice???

daniacea December 9, 2011 at 5:35 pm

Search for “cluster headache remedy” on ebay. I got you. From a former sufferer

adecentusername December 9, 2011 at 5:13 pm

@gearsgamer1 absolutely first thing is to make an appointment with your doctor, because headaches can have so many causes.

Until the appointment, keep a diary so you can tell the doctor what the headaches have been like: how often are they, and at what time of day; how long they last; whether they fade in/out or are sudden; what you were doing when they came on; where they were in your head; what they felt like; if they moved around. The more info the better.

Good luck, from a CH sufferer.
