Question by peavypeavy: Why exactly does loud noise/music cause headaches?
I’m just wondering what exactly happens in the brain that makes loud noises or music cause a headache (and make already-present headaches worse).
Thanks in advance!
besides the fact that the two long answers are suspicously similar/identical, they don’t give any insight to the biological basis of headaches.

It perpetrates the eardrums which cause vibrations that are sent to the brain causing mild if not severe discomfort to the frontal lobes.

What?
Loud noises cause stress to the body and the mind and stress can cause a headache. Usually begins with the tightening of the muscles, which leads to more pain and pain leads to more tightening of the muscles to try to give those first muscles a break. It’s really a chain reaction. That’s one of the reasons relaxation techniques rather than medication can help a headache.
What techniques? If you’re able to sit quietly in a quiet area, try closing your eyes and breathing deep. Concentrate on relaxing one group of muscles at a time. A few gentle stretches might help, particularly of the shoulders and neck. For some a nice hot shower is a huge help. The hot water helps the muscles relax. And there is never anything wrong with someone massaging your neck and shoulders either!
It hurts the eardrums
